How does Selig's "People Finding" business compliment his "Housewares (pots, dustpans) Selling" business? Is he exploiting the African Americans in the community? If so, how?
Selig's people finding business does go hand-in-hand with his selling business because in the process of going door to door he is seeing who lives where and he may also ask where others are if they know where they moved to. At first Selig does try to exploit Seth by giving a bad deal in the price for the scrap metal. I feel that Selig does not try to exploit the African American Community, he is more just trying to get money by hustling and working.
I agree with Buschbacker in that Selig's businesses go hand in hand. To an extent I believe he is exploiting African Americans and for the same example Buschbacker provided, he did attempted to raise the price on a bad piece of metal.
I agree with J. Buschbacher. Selig's business will force him to travel. While he is traveling he will meet a lot of new people. When he is selling his products and someone asks him to find a person, he might already have meet the person or he will eventually run into the person.
I agree with jonathan here. I believe that his business is more for a hustle work but his business is a good way to find people.In a way I think he is trying to exploit the African Americans because for example he was trying to get Seth to get metal that wasnt worth the money he wanted. So, i put it as that he didn't know anything or couldn't tell the difference of what's good and what's not.

Selig was trying to exploit them by trying to overcharge but he eventually came to a mid-way.
I agree with Buschbacher to some extent. Yes, Selig's buisness does require him to travel door to door and meet with people, and he did try to cheat Seth, but that was only one example. Selig tries to locate lost people, but African Americans aren't the only lost people; they just happen to be the majority because of slavery being abolished.
Selling houseware and being a people finder can go hand in hand. I think in a sense both brings families together. I don't think that Selig is trying to exploit African American families. I think that he is, however, doing whatever he can to make some money, so if that means attempting to over charge someone, he will try to do that. I think he did pick the African American community in particular, though, because he knows that they are the ones in need of the most, both in missing people and in lack of utensils and other goods.
I agree with Buschbacher because he is like killing two birds with one stone. He is selling his pots and pans and he is looking for people's loved ones. He did try to eploit Seth by trying to sell him some cheap metal at an expensive price and although it is wrong, it is business. He is only trying to make a profit.
